THE STRESSFUL experience of launching a bargain store in Southampton will be aired on television tonight.

Staff from the Marlands Centre Poundworld will have their moment in the limelight today as they appear on the BBC One hit show Pound Shop Wars.

The series is back for a second season and will follow Poundworld chief executive Chris Edwards who is pinning all his hopes for southern domination on his new Southampton store.

Chris said: “We’re really excited about the new series. We’ve had some truly dramatic moments over this last year, and the cameras have been around to catch them all.

"We can’t wait to show viewers all the exciting developments Poundworld has undergone, and we think they’ll love catching up with what we’ve been up to since the last series ended”.

Charlie Gratton, Area Manager for Southampton added: “Filming was a really strange experience, but I enjoyed it very much.

"Opening a new store is always an intense experience, and the Southampton store was even more so because of the pressure to plant our flag on the South Coast.

"But the staff really rose to the challenge and pulled out all the stops – viewers will have to watch to find out if we were successful, though.”

Pound Shop Wars will be an eight-episode series and airs every Wednesday at 7.30pm.
