HE IS probably one of the most famous faces in business, and now he will share his incredible story with business owners in Hampshire.

Owner of the Reggae Reggae brand, Levi Roots, jumped into the hearts of the UK public after his appearance on BBC’s Dragons’ Den.

Now Mr Roots will be the keynote speaker at the Solent Business Growth Summit at the county’s home of cricket, the Ageas Bowl in West End.

During his appearance at the event Mr Roots will talk about his childhood growing up in rural Jamaica, his vibrant teenage years in Brixton and the tough business decisions he had to make, which lead him to become the entrepreneur he is today.

He said: “I want to spread the word that if a black Brixtonian Rastafarian can make it with just a sauce, then anyone can make it.

“It is vital for anyone going into business to have a proper business plan and a good mentor to guide you.

“For years I made the sauce from my kitchen with the help of my seven children and just sold it out of a bag on my back.”

The Rastafarian’s life was changed in 2007 when he sang his now famous song about the virtues of Reggae Reggae sauce, gaining a £50,000 investment, which he believes anyone can do if they apply themselves in the correct way.

The summit is being hosted by four companies who have a strong presence within Southampton – Santander, Smith & Williamson, Hughes Ellard and Trethowans.

The focus of the meeting will be to help business leaders gain a better understanding of the regional economic growth in Southampton and what the current business trends in the city are.

Held on November 24, the summit will run from 7am until 10am with Solent Local Enterprise Partnership board member Jan Ward CBE giving an introduction on the future of the Southampton business market.
