AN airline which flies out of Southampton has continued its recovery after a few years of financial turbulence.

Flybe's figures for the last three months of 2015 showed continued growth despite the impact on travel following the Paris terrorist attacks in November.

The carrier reported 3.6 per growth in passenger revenue to £128.9 million.

Falling fuel prices helped the airline cut its costs – with the cost of carrying a passenger dropping by 4.7 per cent, say the company In January, Flybe was named Best Short Haul Airline at the 2016 Business Travel Awards beating, among others, easyJet and British Airways.

Chief executive Officer Saad Hammad said: “Passenger demand is now slowly recovering and reflecting a later booking profile.

"Meanwhile, it is encouraging that our focus on business travellers is increasingly recognised as being amongst the best in the industry.”

Flybe recently announced an update to its summer schedule of flights to the sun from Southampton.The new timetable will see the return of popular routes to Alicante, Malaga, Palma Mallorca and Faro.
