AWARD-WINNING marketing agency Carswell Gould has appointed Gareth Miller, former head of group marketing at Ordnance Survey, as strategic director, working at board level.

Gareth has previously held senior managerial positions in both the public and private sectors.

During his time at Ordnance Survey, Gareth’s work included leading the national mapping agency’s 2015 brand refresh.

He is also a trustee for the Communications Advertising and Marketing Education Foundation (CAM), a subsidiary of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Mr Miller said: "It really was a big decision to move back to work for an agency, after a decade working in large organisations and heading up their in-house marketing teams. But the opportunity at Carswell Gould immediately attracted me.

"There is something really special about this agency. It is hugely ambitious, packed with brilliant creative ideas, and talented people who are passionate about growing the business through delivering outstanding and highly effective marketing solutions for their clients."

Creative director, Ed Gould, said: "Gareth’s appointment is an important part of our long term plan, and builds on our recent successes by adding strength and depth to the knowledge and expertise we offer our clients.”

In the last 12 months the agency has been nominated for and won significant awards including the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ PRide Awards for its work with Red Funnel and Hampshire Cultural Trust. It was also named as one of the leading web and technology teams in the region, as a finalist in the Wirehive 100's Digital Leader of the Year award.
