A GROWING cyber security company has made it through to the final 12 of a Royal-founded scheme.

RazorSecure, based in Basing View, has earned a place in the final dozen of an awards project run by the Pitch@Palace scheme, founded by the Duke of York to celebrate and help entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses.

The firm's chief technology officer, Lewis Oaten, presented RazorSecure's pitch to judges on Tuesday, 13 March, along with 41 other shortlisted companies at a 'bootcamp', who were impressed enough to pick RazorSecure in their final dozen for the final with the results announced at St James's Place on April 25.

Each company is put forward for an array of awards in the scheme by making it to the last 12.

Alex Cowan, chief executive officer of RazorSecure which specialises in cyber security for the rail, aviation and automotive industries, said: "It is great to get that recognition from Pitch&Palace and the endorsement for the work that we are doing."

RazorSecure was founded three years by Mr Cowan who moved in to the sector after a career in the gaming industry. The company now employs 10 staff and has worked with a number of important and critical organisations across the country .

Mr Cowan, 35, added: "I saw the opportunity to do something different and improve the way cyber security works by using machine learning and applying it in a different way.

"We're extremely busy at the moment. There is a whole new set of government guidelines coming out later this year. Most people know about GDPR (general data protection regulation) but there are a lot more relating to cyber security and what it should be which is brilliant for us as what they have outlined is what we do anyway."
