A FIRM which champions the use of electric vehicles has made a significant senior appointment.

InstaVolt, based in Chineham, has appointed Richard Rushin as its new commercial director.

Mr Rushin has more than 25 years’ executive management experience and has been a major figure in the UK renewable energy sector for more than a decade.

In his new role he will be responsible for ensuring InstaVolt’s fast-growing network of charging stations is rolled out to match the increasing demand from the many electric vehicle launches due this year, whilst delivering industry leading reliability across the network.

The new commercial director joins InstaVolt having spent six years with Trina Solar, where he held the role of UK country manager and senior sales manager.

His experience of working in rapidly developing industries will be a valuable attribute in the electric vehicle space which is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years.

Mr Rushin said: “InstaVolt has earned an enviable reputation in the electric vehicle charging market so when the opportunity arose to join the team I leapt at it.

“As sales of electric cars continue to rise it’s vital that there’s a reliable network of charging stations in public that drivers can use to top-up on their journeys.

“InstaVolt really is at the forefront of that drive to create a future-proofed public charging infrastructure and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the team.”

Earlier this year InstaVolt tripled its order book for charging stations from its technology partner, ChargePoint. InstaVolt will acquire 400 additional ChargePoint rapid chargers, adding to the 200 chargers the company purchased just last May.

InstaVolt chief executive officer Tim Payne added: “Our charger roll-out plan is moving ahead at real pace and now is the perfect time for us to appoint a commercial director as we really ramp up installation across the UK. Our aim is to have the simplest and most reliable charging network out there. It’s what will make our customers happy and, ultimately, help us become the market leader in on-the-go, rapid charging. Richard will be instrumental in making this happen and we’re thrilled to have him on-board.”
