A DOUBLE dose of royal success has crowned a company’s 20th anniversary year.

Omnitek is to receive two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in recognition of the innovation of its technology in the services it provides and its exporting achievements.

The firm specialises in video and vision systems and employs over 40 staff in its 12,000 square foot office in Wade Road.

The company landed the awards in the innovation and international trade categories.

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation 2018 is for Omnitek’s Warp Intellectual Property (IP) that allows the real time image manipulation of video streams up to 8K resolution at 120 frames per second in applications such as virtual reality, augmented reality, projectors and camera video stitching.

Image manipulation and distortion is required in devices such as projectors, cameras, virtual reality (VR) headsets and surround view imaging.

Roger Fawcett, chief executive officer of Omnitek said: “Omnitek’s highly efficient FPGA device solutions provide a flexible and high-performance alternative to current technologies such as Graphics Processor Unit (GPU), Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) and Application Specific Standard Part (ASSP) solutions.”

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade highlighted work done to boost exports. Omntiek has had an average business growth of 35 per cent per annum over four successive years.

Omnitek’s growth includes significant contribution from its 4K Test & Measurement products.

After ongoing market research, Omnitek launched its ‘Ultra’ family of products, giving it a two-year lead over its competition.

Ultra units have since been sold to ultra high definition equipment manufacturers, major broadcasters and post-production houses based around the world.

On the awards, Michael Hodson, president of Omnitek, added “These awards reflect the excellence of our design team plus the invaluable contribution made by our sales, marketing and production staff.

“These awards are also especially welcome in our twentieth anniversary year.”
