A NEW discount mobility store has opened in Southampton.

Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Barnes-Andrews and his wife, Mayoress Mrs Amanda Barnes-Andrews, performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new branch of Careco at Maybush Corner in Romsey Road.

CareCo managing director, William Harrison was there for the opening.

The new store is the company’s tenth and third to open this year.

This growth is driven by increasing public demand for affordable mobility products such as scooters, power-chairs, bath lifts, riser recliner chairs and adjustable beds.

Mr Harrison said bricks and mortars stores were important in this sector.

He said: “It’s always best to come and try out products for yourself, like test driving mobility scooters. We’ve very knowledgeable advisors who can demonstrate the features of each item and help customers find the right product for their needs. Our Southampton showroom is our best store yet.

“Southampton has a very good reputation for supporting successful store launches and we know that there is a lot of potential demand within the area for mobility products, so it was a logical choice for our landmark 10th store.”

Founded in 2004, the company has more than 200 employees and new shop has created three jobs.
