National law firm Irwin Mitchell has welcomed more than 50 trainee solicitors to the firm.

A total of 53 trainees have commenced their induction with the firm, ahead of starting their seats with one of the firm’s personal injury, private wealth or business legal services teams in 12 of the organisation’s offices.

Four of the new recruits will be based at the firm’s Southampton office.

As well as acquiring key legal skills and experience during their seats, the trainees will also undertake significant training including Professional Skills Courses in key areas of advocacy and communication, finance and business skills, as well as client care and professional standards.

This year’s intake of trainees were recruited from 27 different universities, with 79 per cent and the remainder from a mix of degrees including English Literature, Modern Languages and Philosophy & Politics.

Craig Thompson, head of graduate and apprentice Recruitment at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Many of our current Partners were previously trainees here and have worked their way up. We are very passionate about supporting and developing our staff. Both myself and our fantastic graduate recruitment team wish all of our new trainees the very best and hope that they have a fulfilling and rewarding career with us.”
