THE chief executive of Britain’s first carbon-neutral bottled water company has won Business Person of the Year at the People and Environment Achievements Awards 2012.

Karen Lynch, who lives in Baughurst, has been running Belu, based in London, since 2010 and has turned the business around rapidly, saving the ethical brand and forming an exclusive partnership with Wateraid.

Last year, Belu donated £199,100 to the charity – almost doubling its pledge.

Karen said: "I’m hugely honoured to have won this award.

“We hope the ethical business model of Belu water will help to inspire and encourage more companies to follow suit.

“We have proved that being sustainable can go hand in hand with growth and commercial success."
