FEW teenage bands get a break to play before 4,000 people, especially when they are only 15.

But BlindVision from Eastleigh has won a Battle of the Bands competition to open Rhythm Force, a concert headlined by Jools Holland in London next Saturday September 19.

Rhythm Force is an annual concert organised by the Corps of Army Music and is being held at Kneller Hall in Twickenham.

BlindVision are four 15 year olds from Chandlers Ford who attend Thornden School: Tom Mann (vocals/guitar), Dale Oxberry (guitar), Miguel Ourique (bass guitar) and Tom Boxall (drums).

The 'Battle of the Bands' competition was open to schools from London, the Midlands, East, South, South East and South West of England.

As well as opening the concert headlined by Jools Holland and the Army Big Band on September 19, BlindVision has won a live performance based workshop run by members from the Academy of Contemporary Music (Guildford) to hone their skills for Saturday’s performance, and will also perform in front of 3500 school children on Friday 18th September at the main Army Music Careers event.

Earlier this year BlindVision featured as the ‘House Band’ on BBC Radio 1’s Switch with Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw, and the band has played regularly at The Joiners in Southampton, as well as performing at Eastleigh Music Festival and St Mary’s Stadium in support of Southampton FC.

Currently unsigned, BlindVision write and perform their own music, describing themselves as an alternative pop, indie, rock band.
