A HAIRY insurance worker has shed his waist-length locks for two cancer charities.

Ian Jennings, 22, of Sandmartins, Eastleigh, spent six years growing his hair – first out of laziness, then curiosity, and finally for a good cause.

He decided to get his hair cut last year but wanted to let it grow a bit longer so there would be more to give to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who suffer hair loss through cancer treatment. Ian, pictured above with family and well-wishers, has also raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK.

He said: “My wife was going spare before the cut, saying she wouldn’t recognise me afterwards. I’ve never had my head shaved before. The closest I have come was a grade four when I was ten.”
