A LONG-running dispute over a motocross site near Winchester could be settled next month.

The fate of the Three Maids Hill track will be decided by a city council planning committee on March 21.

Applicants, Three Maids Motocross Ltd, were originally granted temporary permission to stage events on site in 2004, but then saw plans to extend the permission rejected in 2009.

Residents and parish councillors from South Wonston, Littleton and Headbourne Worthy have long opposed the site claiming it was a noise nuisance.

But a planning appeal dismissed these concerns last year, although it did rule against permanent permission to use the site for ecological reasons.

The company has now resolved the ecological issues and submitted another application, which will be decided at the meeting at Winchester Guildhall, beginning at 2pm.
