A HIT and run driver is being hunted by police after a collision near Alresford.

Police are appealing for information about a car which failed to stop following a collision on the A32 at West Meon.

The crash happened at around 6.20am on Tuesday (February 21) when a silver Peugeot 306 heading south towards West Meon was in collision with a white Vauxhall car heading north.

The Peugeot lost control, spun across oncoming traffic and struck the verge, seriously damaging the vehicle. The driver, a man his 30s from Alresford, was uninjured but shaken by what happened.

The Vauxhall, described as Vectra-sized, failed to stop and was last seen heading towards West Meon Hut.

PC Martin Jones, from Winchester Targeted Patrol team, said today: “I’m appealing to drivers using the route around that time on Tuesday morning who may have seen a white Vauxhall Vectra-sized vehicle or something similar driving towards West Meon Hut.

“The reporting driver states that there were numerous other vehicles using the road at this time and it was fortunate that following the collision he did not crash into oncoming vehicles.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Jones at Bishops Waltham police station on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
