POLICE are hunting masked burglars who bound and gagged an elderly couple in their bedroom.
Officers have been doing house to house enquiries following the incident involving the pair, both in their 70s, at their home in Wellow, near Romsey.
They were watching television in their bedroom when they heard two loud bangs.
Soon afterwards, three people dressed in dark clothing and masks entered their bedroom.
The offenders tied up the couple before searching their home, in Wellow Drove.
Police said the couple’s experience, at about 9.30pm last Thursday, had been traumatic.
The burglary was described as a “shocking and outrageous attack” by Romsey Extra county councillor Roy Perry. “It is terrible that people cannot feel safe in their own homes,” he said.
Anyone who was in the area between 9pm and 10.30pm who saw or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact Eastleigh District Investigation Team on 101, quoting Operation Randall.
