SHE’S doing it to put smiles on the faces of children with cancer.

Wellow’s Janine Bowman, who nearly died of childhood leukaemia, is once again acting as Santa’s agent in her bid to raise cash for Southampton General Hospital, whose doctors saved her life in 1995.

Janine has set up a special Santa postbox in her mother Agnes’s Romsey newsagents, Latimer News.

Youngsters can post their letters to Father Christmas for a £3 donation and each will receive a reply.

All donations will go towards the Piam Brown children’s cancer ward at the General.

Last year, Janine’s postbox raised £460 for the ward.

Some of the money was used for extra gifts for the children and they had a fun day making pancakes on the ward.

The postbox will be open until December 19.
