AROUND 200 homes in the Romsey area are still on emergency generators after Monday afternoon’s power failure which initially left 3,000 properties without electricity.

Southern Electric engineers have tracked the fault to an underground cable near a substation at North Baddesley and a spokesperson for the company said it is likely to be several more days before the problem is rectified.

Engineers are working to put homes back on the main power supply network and staff delivered letters to households in the affected areas on Tuesday evening apologising for the 20-hour power cut.
