Art of Stone

Romsey Advertiser: Art of Stone Art of Stone

When he’s not performing in packed stadiums with the Rolling Stones, guitarist, Ronnie Wood, can often be found behind the easel.

This week, Black Sheep Galleries, in Romsey, is to host a collection of signed limited editions of Ronnie’s work.

Wood showed early artistic promise and had his drawings featured on the BBC TV programme, Sketch Club.

His talent took him to the Ealing Art College, where, coincidentally, Freddie Mercury, of Queen and Pete Townshend, of The Who, were also students.

He is a passionate and dedicated painter taking inspiration from artists such as Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and Picasso Wood’s artwork has been successfully exhibited in Europe, USA and the Far East.

Hard-to-please critic, Brian Sewell, described him as “accomplished”, the South Bank Show devoted a programme to his artwork and Liberty & Co. has produced a clothing line using fabrics printed with his art.

The pieces show at Romsey feature his fellow band members and other iconic figures from the world of rock.

His work will be on show at Black Sheep, in Latimer Walk, until Saturday, February 23.
