An arts project which has brought young and old together comes to a climax at the weekend.
The Sunshine project, run by Circular Arts, has seen 430 elderly people from the Test Valley take part in art workshops to create 6ft by 2ft batik flags.
The workshops were supported by 137 community volunteers, the majority aged between 15 and 18 years.
The main aims were to reduce loneliness, introduce new skills and help promote positive interaction and communication between the young and old alike.
The project’s finale will be the display of all 138 flags within the grounds of Mottisfont Abbey, beginning today ( Saturday, August 17).
Test Valley mayor, Janet Whiteley, will officially open the display 10.30am. The leader of Hampshire County Council, Roy Perry, will also be attending the ceremony.
The installation will be in place for eight days.
