Improvement work starts at cemetery
11:00am Sunday 8th September 2013 in News
WORK on extending Woodley Cemetery, on the outskirts of Romsey, is due to start on Monday.
A field next to the site, at the corner of Braishfield Road and Sandy Lane, will be included in the new-look burial ground.
Other improvements include the addition of more footpaths and the of building a circular one-way road around the cemetery.
Test Valley Borough Council, who own the cemetery, say the work is expected to take about eight weeks.
Landscaping, including tree planting, will be done this winter and next spring.
Borough cabinet spokesman for community and leisure, Tony Ward, said: “I look forward to seeing the results of the enhancement work, which will improve the site and ensure its continued use for years to come. All work will be undertaken sensitively and completed as soon as possible.”
