RESIDENTS affected by the severe flooding which hit Romsey at Christmas and early January will be able to put their views to consultants called in to investigate the issue.

Drains and aging sewers were overwhelmed by the volume of rainfall that hit the town in a serious of winter storms that left parts of the town submerged.

Hampshire County Council ordered the independent inquiry which is being carried by CH2M Hill and representatives from the company will meet residents on Friday (February 14) to discover more about the problems they experienced during the devastating floods.

The drop-in sessions are at the Crosfield Hall between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.

Residents in Middlebridge Street, Winchester Road and Mainstone were the worst affected in that flood with sewage getting into homes and people left unable to flush their toilets. Some businesses including the Three Tuns pub in Middlebridge Street and the Cromwell Arms at Mainstone.

Hampshire director of environment Stuart Jarvis is leading the investigation and a report on the Christmas and January flooding is expected to be published on April 20.
