TRAFFIC chaos hit Hampshire last night after a five-car motorway pile-up.
Two people were cut free by Hampshire Fire and Rescue after the collision on the M27 westbound between junctions three and four near Rownhams Services.
Three cars, a black Mercedes, a grey BMW 5 Series and a silver Volvo, were involved in the initial crash.
But a further two cars, a VW Polo and Vauxhall Insignia, were involved in a shunt incident as a result.
The fire service confirmed three people were taken to hospital but police said only minor injuries were suffered.
There were tailbacks of more than a mile on the road for almost two hours after the crash, which happened at around 6.20pm.
One lane was temporarily closed to allow the scene to be cleared.
