DETECTIVES are sifting through CCTV images after a break-in at Romsey School.

Executive headteacher Jonathan de Sausmarez said it is believed more than one person was involved in the burglary which happened late Sunday night or the early hours of Monday. The headteacher said security at the school has been reviewed following the break-in.

The burglars removed a panel in a door to get into the administration offices where they carried out an untidy search of drawers.

Documents were strewn across the floor and a small amount of petty cash and cheques kept in a safe were stolen. Parents who sent in cheques to the school have been notified.

The headteacher said an alarm went off and he estimated the burglars were probably on the premises at the Priestlands housing estate off Greatbridge Road for no more than 10 minutes.
