COUNCIL chiefs have announced some festive cheer for shoppers.

Test Valley is giving an hour’s free parking in all its car parks every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the run-up to Christmas.

The offers runs from December 1-17.

Free parking will be available via vouchers which will be available from Test Valley Borough Council’s Romsey offices in Church Street and retailers from Monday (November 24).

All vouchers must be displayed along with valid pay and display tickets covering a minimum of one hour.

This means anyone coming into to do their Christmas shopping by car at 2pm will be able to park until stores close for just 90p.

Borough cabinet planning and transport spokesman Martin Hatley urged motorists to pick up a voucher and save money.

Mr Hatley said: “This is the second year that the Council has run the Christmas Parking Voucher scheme as a way to say thank you to people for choosing to shop in Romsey. It is also part of our commitment to encourage people to shop local and use their local town.”

Romsey’s Town centre manager Mark Edgerley encouraged shop owners to pick up vouchers from TVBC to hand out to their customers.
