MOTORISTS are facing major delays this morning after crashes on several main routes in Hampshire.

An accident on Bassett Avenue has closed the road's southbound carriageway, while there are delays on the M27 after three separate accidents.

Eight vehicles were involved in a collision on the eastbound carriageway near to junction 5 for Eastleigh.

The vehicles have been cleared on to the hard shoulder, but delays remain in the area.

Another two vehicles were involved in a crash on the westbound carriageway of the motorway at junction 5, and have also been cleared onto the hard shoulder.

And at junction 11 for Fareham, three cars have been involved in a collision in the motorway's fast lane.

That lane is still closed as police work to clear the scene.

Police say no-one was injured in any of the collisions.

And there are long delays going into central Southampton after a Ford Fiesta and Nissan Juke collided at the Avenue's junction with Oaklands Avenue at 6.54am.

The vehicles are being cleared, but the road's southbound carriageway is closed and traffic is being diverted down Bassett Crescent East.

Larger vehicles are being diverted down Winchester Road. Police say no injuries were sustained by the drivers.
