FIRE fighters rushed to a family home in Rownhams after a blaze in a kitchen last night.
Crews from St Mary's were called to the detached house in Horns Drove after a dishwasher caught fire at about 7.30pm.
One 20-year old man, believed to be the youngest son of the family, was in the house at the time and was evacuated but not injured.
No one else was in the property.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to put out the fire which took about 30 minutes.
Crew manager Mark Caplen said the fire was “confined to the kitchen” which received the most damage.
He said: “There was a lot of smoke. The rest of the house was filled with smoke.”
