A doctor is leading the mission to transform services for wheelchair-users.

North Baddesley GP Dr Sarah Schofield has been made a national champion to help improve wheelchair services across the country.

It means she is now part of a team of top clinicians across the UK who are committed to transforming services for people with complex and changing needs so that they get the right wheelchair quickly.

Dr Schofield, chairman of West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Wheelchairs enable many people to live fuller lives. However, there are inconsistencies in how these services are provided across the country.

“As a champion I have a fantastic opportunity to help change this and make much-needed improvements to ensure those children and adults who need a wheelchair get the same level of service and standard of equipment, regardless of where they live.
