ROMSEY Youth Choir hit the right notes during a national celebration of choral music in London.

Nearly 50 members of the choir took part in Chorus 2015 at the Royal Festival Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

The choir led by Marion Maxey, a teacher at Romsey Abbey Primary School, took part along with choirs from across London, the National Youth Boys and Girls Choirs and a German choir.

“Romsey Youth Choir led a song-sharing session where the audience had a chance to join the choir and learn the lively Hebrew love song Imi Jadech which was great fun,” said Mrs Maxey.

“The choir then gave a 25-minute individual recital which included the chamber choir’s performance of The Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre which had members of the audience visibly moved to tears.”

The choir took time out from performing to do some sightseeing while in the capital but couldn’t stop singing.

“We couldn't miss the opportunity of singing outside along the bank of the Thames with the London Eye looming up in front of us,” said Mrs Maxey.

“We came across two young beat boxing buskers who were very keen to beat box along to our singing and we drew a huge audience and a great time was had by all.”
