MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid the M27 eastbound after an accident closed the entire carriageway this morning.

Delays of up to 90 minutes are being reported after the collision before junction 12 for Portsmouth.

One vehicle was flipped onto its roof in a two car crash just after 8am today.

A Fiat and a Hyundai were involved in the crash which blocked two lanes of the motorway.

Police have since closed the entire eastbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 while they deal with the smash, and there are delays beyond junction 9 for Whiteley.

An ambulance is currently on scene and the driver of the car which was left upside down is said to have minor injuries but was able to get out of their vehicle, the police said.

Traffic management service ROMANSE is urging motorists to avoid the area as a result of the crash as long delays are now building as traffic is at a standstill.
