A SCOTTISH politician has been filmed mouthing “you talk ***** hen” to Romsey and Southampton North MP Caroline Nokes.

Footage emerged following a debate in the House of Commons during which Scottish National Party MP Mhairi Black made an impassioned speech that criticised Government proposals to withdraw housing benefits for 18 to 21-year-olds.

But, whilst defending the plans, Ms Nokes, under secretary of state in the Department for Work and Pensions, was subject to abuse from the 22-year-old politician.

During the debate yesterday, Ms Nokes said: “The Scottish Government already has a wide range of powers which would enable them to alleviate the changes being proposed here.”

But Ms Black, who is the youngest member parliament, can then be seen shaking her head and muttering what appears to be: “You talk s***e hen.”

This morning Ms Nokes said: "The House of Commons is a place of robust debate, quite rightly. This is the first time - to my knowledge - that I have been called a 'hen' but I didn't notice Mhairi say it at the time and I gather it can even be a term of endearment.

"More seriously, on a range of welfare policies it is important that Government Ministers, officials and our counterparts in the Scottish Government work constructively and I am sure we will continue to do so."
