HUNDREDS of people turned out to see the festive season get under way in Romsey on Saturday evening, as the town's Christmas lights were switched on.

The annual event saw a winter carnival procession winding its way around Romsey town centre, starting Crossfields Hall car park before returning for the main event.

As part of the winter carnival parade, Test Valley mayor Carl Borg-Neal and deputy mayor Ian Carr, were on hand to pick the top entries for the Len Fry Challenge Cup.

The festive event was organised by Romsey Town Council and Romsey Carnival Committee.
