FATHER Christmas will once again be taking to the streets in style as Romsey Round Table collects vital cash for local causes.

And this year even more festive joy will be spread as more routes are added to the packed schedule.

Over the course of two weeks, Santa will be in his sleigh travelling through Romsey, Chandler’s Ford and other local Test Valley villages, with local Round Table members raising money in the process.

The elves are fully deployed making toys for the big day, so all that is left is for local residents to line the streets to cheers on Jolly Old Saint Nicholas.

Father Christmas has even got a renovated sleigh to make sure his entry this year is as a loud and bright as he deserves. Last year, a new route was added around Tadburn Road in Romsey and in addition to this, a further route has been added for this year's adventure to North Baddesley on December 18.

As well as bringing Father Christmas to the children of Romsey and Chandler’s Ford, they will also be collecting money to distribute to local charities and good causes.

Round Table chief fundraiser Euan Douglas said : “Last year we the generosity of people meant we could pass on £7,000 to local good causes, which was a record. This year, following our successful Beer Festival in October and by adding another new route, we hope to smash that total.”

Santa starts his travels on Saturday, December 9 at 5pm in Bellflower Way, then on to Katrine Crescent, Chandler’s Ford. On Sunday he will be in West Wellow.

From Friday, December 15 the red-cladded face of Christmas then begins an nine-night run.

He will be visiting:

l December 15: Horseshoe Drive and Campion Drive.

l December 16: Chandlers Ford: Morgan Le Faye Drive to Woodend Way.

l December 17: Abbotswood, Romsey.

l December 18: North Baddesley.

l December 19: Chandlers Ford: Hornbeam Road to Sandringham Close.

l December 20: Tadburn Road, Romsey.

l December 21: Fishlake Meadows, Romsey.

l December 22: Halterworth.

l December 23: Whitenap.

To help find Santa, a GPS tracker has been fitted to his famous sleigh, so locals know exactly where he is!
