HUNDREDS of singers are set to take to the streets of Romsey for the annual Carols in the Market Place next week.

On Monday (December 18), led by The Michelmersh Silver Band, local choirs will come together for the event that starts at 7pm.

The entire event is in aid of Southampton Hospital Charity’s appeal to raise £2 million for a brand new children’s emergency and trauma department at Southampton General Hospital.

With a new triage, x-ray equipment and beds, the £4.8 million department will care for thousands of children across the south.

The charity is hoping to raise £2 million which will be matched by the Government, and the final £800,000 contributed by University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Rotary Club of Romsey has also said that any donations up to £5,000 will be matched as part of the campaign.
