A Whiteparish pub will be wired for art for the next fortnight.

Landlady of the King’s Head, Mandy Flynn, is also an artist who creates eye-catching sculptures of animals and fantasy figures out of wire mesh.

Many of her creations will be on show around the pub in an exhibition entitled “Simply Rewired”.

The scultptures are an exercise in recycling as her raw materials are provided by her partner, Jim Goodland, who, when he is not a publican, is a master thatcher.

The old protective mesh, which Jim removes from roofs, is reused and reshaped by Mandy in her artworks.

Mandy builds up layers of wire into a figure and then brings it to life with a coat of paint.

She even uses some of the same tools as Jim.

“After showing her how to use a twisting hook, away she went,” said Jim, the son of the much-loved broadcaster, Norman Goodland.

“The only difference between us is that she has talent,” he joked.

Mandy’s work was recently seen in Art in the Garden at Hilliers and it has been shown in galleries in Salisbury.

The free exhibition starts on Sunday, November 23, and runs from 10am to 5pm each day.
