Mottisfont is to showcase paper creations by some of the UK’s best contemporary artists starting this month.
Mottisfont Abbey is showcasing Cutting Edge; an event displaying work by leading artists who use techniques such as collage, print-making and paper cuts to create beautiful illustrations and sculptures.
The event begins on Saturday, November 12 until Sunday, January 29.
Creations being shown involve work from Winchester-based artist Eileen White; Rob Ryan, now one of Britain’s most highly regarded paper cut artists; Ed Kluz, who has recently completed commissions for the Victoria & Albert Museum; award winning screen printer John Dilnot; Jonny Hannah and American artist Sally Sheinman.
Designs include a 15ft paper cut mobile suspended in the air, made from hundreds of leaves, flowers and other natural elements; beautiful ‘vignettes’ inside glass fronted boxes; stunning three dimensional miniature paper buildings housed in Victorian glass domes and a 200-foot long paper sculpture made from 25,000 pieces of hand-painted gold Japanese rice paper to symbolise the number of genes in the human genome.
Limited edition prints are available for sale during the exhibition and design products for the home are also available.
