History book unveiled on show day

After three years of research into the history of The Romsey Show the historians of LTVAS (Lower Test Valley Archaeological Society) has published Where Town and Country Meet - the History of The Romsey Show.

The book traces the fascinating story of the show and its many characters back over 170 years from 1835 to the present day. Hot off the press, copies are on sale at the LTVAS stand (No.1) in the shopping marquee, priced £5.95.

Co-author, Barbara Burbridge, said: “Pat Goodwin and I have been researching the history of the Romsey Show for the past couple of years with the help of some fellow researchers and the memories of a range of people who have visited or taken part in shows over decades - some remembering as far back as the first post-World War Two shows of 1947 onwards.”

The team from LTVAS, including the authors of the book, look forward to welcoming members, exhibitors and visitors to the stand throughout the day, where, they will be able to browse through some of the many photos and artefacts relating to the show as well as purchase copies of the book.
