£50m pipeline scheme will see more water taken from Test

Southern Water has re-vealed a £50m scheme to secure water supplies across the county and preserve one of Hampshire world-renowned chalk streams.
The firm plans to link the Testwood Water Supply Works in Totton to its sister site in Otterbourne with an 11.5-mile underground pipeline, passing underneath the M27 and M3.
Under European law, the company must reduce the amount of water it takes from the Itchen, after it was named as a Special Area of Conservation by 2015.
