Bailiff held ‘prisoner’

POLICE have arrested a man after a bailiff was allegedly falsely imprisoned at a Romsey business park.

Police said they were contacted by the 36-year-old bailiff, who had called on a unit in the Westlink Belbins business park, and claimed he was being detained inside by a man who would not unlock the door.

The bailiff, from Ferndown, in Dorset, also contacted his employer.

When police arrived, they freed the bailiff, but the man locked himself inside the unit again.

Police arrested the man as he tried to escape from the back of the building.

Officers found a quantity of herbal cannabis in the business unit.

The bailiff was unharmed during the incident, on Friday afternoon.

A 53-year-old man from Wandsworth was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment of a 36-year-old man and being concerned in the supply of cannabis and was bailed until January 28 next year pending further enquiries.
