A CONTEST to head-up a parish authority near Winchester has been settled – with the toss of a coin!
Sarah White and Denis Welstead took the unusual step after tying a vote for leading Kings Worthy Parish Council six-all.
Dr White, also a governor at Kings Worthy Primary School, triumphed after correctly calling ‘tails’. Meanwhile former council leader Peter Warrener was installed as vice-chairman.
Mr Welstead said: “It was all quite bizarre but I was not unhappy with it.”
The leadership vote comes just weeks after the authority had its first contested election in nearly 20 years.
