Winchester students take on mammoth 24-hour charity basketball game

The Winchester students have so far raised more than £500 after a 24-hour basketball game at Kings' School
A GROUP of Winchester students have been raising money for charity.
Nothing unusual in that, except they have been playing basketball non-stop for 24 hours.
The dozen players started at 12.30pm on Saturday and were aiming to finish at 12.30pm on Sunday at Kings’ School in Winchester.
At all times, there had to be at least two or three people on the court as there had to be a ball bouncing at all times.
Organiser Jasmine Wyatt, 19, a second year sports coaching and development student at the university, of Sparkford Close, said they had raised £540 so far but would continue fundraising until they reached £750, which will go to cancer research.
She said: “It went really well, but everyone’s very tired now.
“The last couple of hours were hard, but at the end we got a bit more energy because it was nearly the end.
“Keeping awake was definitely the hardest part.
“I don’t think I’ll be doing it again any time soon.”
