NINE Winchester charities seeking grants have been rebuffed by the city council.
The authority has been distributing £15,000 from the small grants programme to numerous local charities.
The nine and reasons for receiving nothing are:
Nepalese Community Winchester, £500 for travel and entertainment for the elderly (previously funded);
Relate Winchester & District, £500 for family counselling (already funded);
Cherry Tree Preschool, Cheriton, £500 towards relocation costs (outside scope of programme);
Gratton Trust, Sutton Scotney, £500 to replace worn equipment in the children's play area (outside scope of programme);
Winchester Quakers, £500 towards renovation of the meeting house, (outside scope of programme);
Waltham Chase Preschool, Waltham Chase, £388 for exploration of the environment using modern IT (previously funded);
Brendoncare, Weeke/Badger Farm, £500 for Christmas trip the theatre (previously funded);
Winnall Rock School, £500 towards showcase concert, (previously funded);
Bishop’s Waltham Thursday Lunch Club, £200 for Christmas lunch, (previously funded).
