Thumbs up for Winchester hospital - from the staff
HAMPSHIRE hospital staff would recommend Winchester, Andover and Basingstoke as good places to work or be treated, according to new research.
An NHS staff survey found workers at Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) thought it was above average in several areas, putting HHFT in the top 20 per cent of trusts for making a difference to patients.
Staff also said they always had washing materials available and had quality and diversity in training.
But the trust also scored above average for the amount of staff reporting violence, harassment, bullying or abuse from patients in the past 12 months.
There was also a slight increase in staff saying they were stressed and working extra hours, although this was below average compared to other trusts.
Associate director of workforce Jo Brooks said: “We provide a range of support services for staff including a free Employee Assistance Programme through which staff can access a range of services from debt advice to counselling.
“Our analysis shows that staff are more likely to suffer stress related to things happening in their personal life, and the support is there to help with both home and work issues.”
The trust runs Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.
Chief operating officer Donna Green said: “It is a testimony that so many of our staff would recommend Hampshire Hospitals as a good place to work and to be treated. I’m proud of our caring, compassionate staff who do their best for patients every day and continue to manage the significant pressures that the service sometimes experiences.”
HHFT is currently recruiting for a range of roles in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, including midwives, nurses, domestic team members, therapists, security, reception and administration. See www.jobs.nhs.uk for details.
