WINCHESTER could be thrown into traffic chaos next month as one of the busiest routes out of the city will shut.

St Cross Road will be closed between the High Street and Norman Road from Monday, April 8 to Friday, April 13, from 9am-4.30pm daily.

It is part of the county council’s Operation Resilience resurfacing work to protect roads against damage from severe weather and heavy traffic.

The road will be open during evenings and weekends but the timescale could change depending on weather and seriousness of problems.

Advanced notices will go up two weeks before the closure and any changes to the programme will be displayed on yellow signs where work is taking place and on hants.gov.uk/transport.
