Winchester's walkers lead the way for charity
WINCHESTER’S residents took part in a sponsored walk of the city last weekend, to raise money for memory.
Led by The Alzheimer’s Society, at the North Walls Recreation Ground, people of all ages came together on Saturday (September 7) to raise money to help those with dementia and their carers.
Trying to raise awareness of the illness, scores of people took part in the six-mile walk around the historic city including the cathedral, Wolvesey Castle and the Great Hall.
Warming up with a Zumba session, the hikers enjoyed family games, local musicians and homemade cakes.
There was also a memory tree to remember those affected by the disease.
The society called for volunteers for the day who, donned with high-visibility jackets, helped coordinate the march.
