A WINCHESTER care home is celebrating after its manager has taken home a coveted award.

Members of staff at Colten Care’s St Catherine’s View home were praised by their manager Ann-Marie Medd after she received the Care Home Registered Manager Award at the Great South East Care Awards ceremony in Brighton earlier this month.

Ms Medd said: “It means a lot to me personally but it’s all down to the team at St Catherine’s View. It’s their award as well as mine. They are an amazing team.” The judges said: “Ann-Marie demonstrated clearly the qualities that exemplify excellent care. She is passionate about her work, the sector, her staff and most of all her residents.”

Ms Medd was presented with her award by comedian, writer and actor Helen Lederer.

The award is the latest in a series of accolades for the care home. Earlier this year it was named Best Specialist Dementia Facility at the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards and in autumn it won gold for Best Memory Garden at the New Homes Gardens Awards.
