A LUCKY punter from Winchester has won a whopping six-figure payout from the bookies just in time for Christmas.

The 65-year-old man, who has asked not to be named, took home more than £134,000 for just a £1 bet on the weekend’s football after correctly predicting the results of 15 games.

The unmarried man said he’d be spoiling his grandnieces and nephews this Christmas after his fortunate windfall.

He placed his bet at the St George’s Street Coral shop in Winchester on Sunday taking home a jackpot of £134,535.70 after accurately predicting the results of games played up and down the country including Saints’ draw against Newcastle.

As Jay Rodriguez put in his equaliser after a one-two with Steven Davis on Saturday the striker managed to hold off the magpies at St James’ Park resulting in a draw.

The man said: “I knew I was in the running for a bumper payout with two games to go, but then had a nervous few minutes when Bolton came back from two-nil down to level at two-two, but fortunately Wigan got the winner in that game, and then Liverpool thrashed Spurs, so I was able to enjoy the second half of that game.”

“I’ve played the Coral Football Jackpot since the start of the season, and this is my first win, and what a win it was, the perfect early Christmas present. Top of my list will be a holiday in the sun next year.”

Coral’s David Stevens said: “We are delighted this customer has become our biggest small-staking Football Jackpot winner so far, and the timing couldn’t be better to ensure he has a very merry Christmas on us. It was a great effort to predict 15 correct outcomes, and he deserves his massive prize, and all for just £1.”

The unnamed punter predicted a home win for Cardiff v West Brom, Everton v Fulham and Wigan v Bolton; an away win for Blackpool v QPR, Charlton v Derby, Middlesbrough v Brighton, Kilmarnock v Dundee United, Hearts v Inverness, Aston Villa v Manchester United and Tottenham v Liverpool; and draws for Newcastle v Southampton, West Ham v Sunderland, Nottingham Forest v Ipswich, Hull v Stoke and Norwich v Swansea.

David Stevens said Coral’s regular customer was over the moon with his takings and said the jackpot would turn out to be a life-changing sum of money.
