CHILDREN at a Hampshire pre-school have been doing their bit for charity by taking part in a special mufti-day.

Waltham Chase pre-school students dressed up as pirates and princesses on December 20 raising £95 for Crackerjacks, a charity aimed at helping children with severe disabilities and their families.

The tots made treasure maps for their treasure hunts, had their faces painted and even took part in some special pirate-inspired physical exercise.

Melanie Newman, manager of the school since September, said: “The children got so excited whenever they found something during the treasure hunts; they’re faces were just a picture.”

“It’s the first year we’ve done this as we’re a charity ourselves but after I looked into what they did I thought it was such a lovely cause that it was only right we do something. And the children had lots of fun.”
