FILM-buffs will be in their element this month when a new movie season begins at the Winchester Science Centre.

The Winchester Film Society has organised a season of films at the former INTECH Science Centre to be shown on alternate Tuesdays at 8pm.

The first film, Ron Fricke’s Samsara, will be shown on January 7 and has been described by society committee member Graham Lumb as “a kaleidoscope of nature's miracles and man-made wonders which will provide a stunning introduction to the new venue”.

Mr Lumb said: “It is our intention to develop this new partnership with the Science Centre to become the Home of World Cinema for Winchester and Hampshire.

“The Film Society exists to give films from around the world the chance to be enjoyed on the big screen. Often cinematic gems far superior to the output from Hollywood go totally unseen in the UK. We are hoping this new partnership with the Science Centre gives people a chance to see first class films in a first class venue.”
