TWO Army personnel escaped serious injury when their 4x4 flipped over on one of Hampshire’s busiest motorways.

The Range Rover overturned on the M3 northbound between junction 12 at Eastleigh and junction 11 Winchester South after colliding with the central reservation shortly after 11am.

No-one was seriously hurt but the vehicle is currently blocking lanes two and three and part of the outside lane on the southbound carriageway.

One casuality was placed on a board as a precaution and the other was walking wounded. They were taken by ambulance to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester to be checked over, said an ambulance service spokeswoman.

The crash caused major tailbacks in both directions while southbound traffic is already being held up by a vehicle broken down vehicle close to junction 11 at Winchester.

Motorists are experiencing delays of up to 20 minutes.
