SEVERAL cars were trapped by a violent but brief storm near Winchester on Saturday.

Three large buildings were blown away in the mini-tornado that hit Wield near Alresford.

Fire crews from Winchester were called out to the A33 near Kings Worthy at 5.05pm after a car crashed into a fallen tree.

No-one was reported to have been seriously hurt.

At Wield Janet and Peter Sole sent in photos from the damage at their Wield Wood Farm.

Janet said: "I am sending a couple of pictures to show you the devastation of what happened at our farm on Saturday afternoon in just a five-minute period! We are still without power or water.

"To give you an idea of size these sheds weigh almost two tons each and three of them were lifted up in the tornado and carried more than 100 metres through the air. Two of the sheds are in debris on the adjoining field but the third one ended up wrapped around our three phase electricity pole bringing it down across our drive.

"It was an absolutely unbelievable sight."
